Welcome to the Mountain Bay
Physical Education Department
My name is Dan VanSlyke and I am looking forward to my
eighth year of teaching in the D.C. Everest School District.
I have been the Physical Education teacher at Mountain Bay Elementary School
since we opened five years ago. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2003.
Welcome to the beginning of a new
school year, a great time to emphasize the importance of physical activity in
your child's education which is vital to his or her health, wellness, and
academic success! The primary objective of physical education is for
students to demonstrate competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed
to perform a variety of physical activities. In a quality physical
education program built around the Movement Framework, students will develop
competency in locomotor and manipulative skills. Hopefully, this leads to
a physically active lifestyle that promotes lifelong wellness.
In addition to teaching, I have been the assistant
varsity hockey coach since the 2004-2005 season. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Kendra, our
sons, Cole and Will, and our dog, Rowdy.
In my free time, I enjoy playing hockey, softball, golf, doing yard work, and watching the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers.
