PAST COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS WITH CLASSROOMS

Kinder.          *Use the same “theme” that is going on in the classroom in story time, literature activity. Calendars are shared between classroom teachers and librarian so books may be pulled on those themes and stories may be read to students that correspond with those themes.  

1st grade        *Use the same “theme” that is going on in the classroom in story time, literature activity. Author studies are also done when appropriate.

2nd grade     same as above.

                *Work with students with writing on Word.  

                   *Websites on rainforest project.

                * Created PowerPoint template for class presentation.  Used digital camera.

3rd grade    *Student Author Books (Make a copy for the library – make cataloging card, call #, etc.  Write Author page in Library Class.)

                    *Web hunts on various topics such as New Year's celebrations, Beverly Cleary and Inventors.

                    *3rd grade animal reports and solar system reports resources.

            *Use digital camera to make classroom book for library collection.

                *PowerPoint book talks on book reports for each quarter.

4th grade    *PowerPoint book talks on book sharing...Mystery and Biography books.

                  *Lesson on Importing pictures from the Internet to PowerPoint

                    *Webhunts have been done on various topics such as Wisconsin, States of Matter, Midwest States and U.S. Symbols.

                    *PowerPoint review games to reinforce Wisconsin history and facts.

                   *We have collaborated on the State in a Box project and the 4th grade study of the Iditarod sled dog race.

              *Introduced the use of Internet “key pals” with other classrooms in different states and countries.

                 *PowerPoint book talks on book reports for each quarter.

          *Online book reports have been coordinated along with PowerPoint book talks on book reports for each quarter.

5th grade     *Review of PowerPoint (creation of student biographies) and student portfolios (year long project).

                    *Work with students with word processing

*Relating questions used in Reference book information retrieval (atlas, almanac, biographical dictionary, etc.) to classroom curriculum.

        *Note taking and summarizing lessons to relate to report writing.

        *Internet scavenger hunts on Energy Sources.

        *Author studies (Kathryn Paterson, Natalie Babbit, Jerry Spinelli, etc.)

*6 week Research Paper project (Field trip to Public Library, team taught lessons regarding each facet of research – Internet, note taking, bibliographies, etc.)

*Internet Scavenger Hunt on Ancient/Natural Wonders.

*Review of PowerPoint – Students did projects on religions and student biographies.

                *Author studies relating to their classroom.

                 *Introduced PowerPoint so students could create social studies projects on ancient civilizations.
