Standard #1:  Professionalism:  A commitment to personal professional growth.

            ·        Goals:  Worked on my professional goals, which included growing and developing professionally and collaboration with staff.

            ·        WEMTA conference: attended WEMTA 2011 conference, which included several useful workshops on technology and literacy.

            ·        Professional Organization Memberships:  ALA (American Library Association – 20 years), WEMTA (Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association) and CCBC (Cooperative Children’s Book Center)

            ·        ListServs:  I remained a member of LM_NET, an international organization and WEMTA, a statewide organization.

Standard #2:  Communications and Group Dynamics:  The ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, other colleagues and the general public.

·        Media Matters Newsletters:  quarterly newsletters to all staff regarding technology and literacy topics.

·        IMC Services Pamphlet:  distributed to all staff at the beginning of the year, this pamphlet describes library policies and services.

·        Riverside Report articles, Everest Herald Literacy Links monthly column and Wausau Daily Herald book reviews

·        Committee Memberships:  Read Across America, National Library Week, K-12 IT committee

·        Get Caught Reading posters:  Added over 40 posters of school staff reading their favorite children’s books.

Standard #3:  Access:  The ability to develop a school library media program dedicated to providing access to information and ideas.

·        Ensured that Riverside and Easton libraries are open every day for circulation to students and staff.

·        Continued to create a warm and friendly IMC environment that encourages students and staff use.

·        Stress Basket:  Created a basket of edible “goodies” in the backroom of the library for all staff to use.

·        Managing Scheduling of Computer labs and library – managing weekly schedules for the school year.

Standard #4:  Collection Management and Use:  The ability to build and maintain resource collections that include both internal and external access points to support the educational goals of the school and the personal, developmental and curricular needs of students and teachers. 

·        Book Preview Party: Provided staff with an opportunity to preview the newest books and media selections when new books were added.

·        Student Survey:  Students in 2nd – 5th grades were surveyed regarding suggestions for specific books to be added to the collection.

·        Cataloging:  Approx. 1400 new items were added to the collections this year.

·        Use of Collection Analysis to add beginning reader books (red dots) for young readers and teacher wish lists to enhance specific areas of the collection.

·        Updated Accelerated Reader list of over 1,600 books to include call numbers to make it easier for students to access.

Standard #5:  Technology, Including Design and Production of Instructional Resources:  The ability to use technology effectively with students and faculty to facilitate teaching and learning.

·        Webmaster:  Since 1997, providing updated school web pages for my schools.

·        Online Tools handout – describing online resources available, including descriptions and logins/passwords.

·        Updated Book Talk PowerPoints – incorporating book “trailers” designed to get 4th and 5th graders excited about specific genres.

·        SmartBoard:  Used several times a day during library classes to aide student learning.

Standard #6:  Administration:  The ability to develop, manage and evaluate school library media programs to meet educational goals.

·        Budget Plans:  Managed the 2010-2011 school year budgets, devised one for next year.

·        Management of two libraries, including support staff.

·        Library Crew: for 5th graders who volunteer to assist library staff with various useful tasks.

·        Motivational Reading Programs for students:  Administered Riverside Book Bugs, Read-a-thon fundraiser and Fall Book Fair ($1400 profit)

Standard #7:  Instructional Leadership:  The ability to serve as a learning facilitator and a leader in the development of effective strategies for teaching and learning.

·        Creation of D.C. Everest Library Wiki for collaboration of K-5 librarians http://dceverestelementarylibraries.wikispaces.com

·        Weekly collaboration with kindergarten teachers – sharing weekly lesson plans to extend library lessons into the classroom.

·        Lesson Plans online – creation of lesson plan link describing weekly lesson plans at all grade levels http://www.dce.k12.wi.us/riverside/Library%20Lesson%20Plans.htm

·        Collaboration with teachers through surveys and email.
