Installation Instructions
for Home Use of MTG
- Go to the MTG download page at http://www.dce.k12.wi.us/tech/mtg/
and download a copy of the MTG installation.
Be sure to save it in a location on your hard drive which you can find again
later. (The desktop is probably a good choice.)
(If you have a USB drive, you can download the installation
program at work and save to the USB flash drive. This is especially handy if you have
a very slow Internet connection at home or no Internet access at all. The
installation program WILL NOT fit on a floppy disk.)
- If you had the old version of Making the Grade installed, you might want
to delete the old MTG shortcut on your desktop. Just find it and drag
it into the recycle bin. It looks something like this:

Note: If you do not delete this shortcut, nothing bad will happen. The same
shortcut works fine for the new version after it is installed. It will just
show
the wrong version number (9.6 instead of 10.0)
- Find the file you downloaded. The filename should start with MTG10... The icon should look similar to this:

- Double-Click the icon.
- Click the
button
until you reach a screen that looks like this:

- Click the top button (SINGLE USER INSTALL)
- Click the
button
a few more times until the program installs and this screen
appears:

- Click the Finish button.
- After you are done looking over the readme file which appears, close it.
- Go to http://www.dce.k12.wi.us/tech/mtg/
and download the license file(s) for your building.
- Save the file(s) in the same directory you installed MTG to (it should be C:\MTG
in Windows) or download them and them move them into that directory.
- Now you can run Making the Grade
